Waldstein Riding School, Valdštejnská 3, Malá Strana

Recently, our IWAP Gallery Gang visited this comprehensive exhibition of female artists and they were delighted. It exhibits the work of women who were active in Central Europe, the Netherlands, and present-day Italy in the period 1300–1900, particularly in painting, sculpture, drawing, and graphic art, as well as in the applied arts. The exhibition highlights how women’s opportunities in art gradually expanded during this time, with more women gaining access to art academies and pursuing careers as artists. It also sheds light on the changing social and professional landscape for women artists, including their increasing control over their careers.
