Procession from Hradčanské náměstí to Charles Bridge

Navalis Saint John’s Celebrations commemorate the anniversary of canonization of Saint John of Nepomuk, patron saint of Bohemia, always taking place the evening before the day of St. John. There will be a mass in St. Vitus Cathedral, a procession from the cathedral across Charles Bridge and a baroque concert on the river.

The first Navalis festivities linked to St John of Nepomuk took place in Prague in 1715.

This will be the Navalis programme:

– Saddling and decorating horses for a costumed procession will begin at 14.30 on Hradčanské náměstí

– Solemn liturgy in the St. Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle at 17.30.

– Costume procession from Hradčanské náměstí to the Charles Bridge at 19.00

– The audience will be entertained by Venetian gondolas and historical Croatian boats, a “walrus” race and a parachute jump at 19.45

– Music concert on the river at 20.30
