IWAP Charity Fundraiser

IWAP members, family, & friends welcome

What to expect:   Helen will talk us through her recipes, step by step, as she makes traditional British scones and sweet tarts in her country kitchen in Lambourne, England. The ingredient list is provided, so that you can cook along with her – though feel free to simply watch and learn. There will be opportunities for questions and catch ups.

What you will need:  

Tarts and Mince pies

  •  Rolling pin, large bowl, cutter (festive biscuit cutter star, holly) or drinking glass, cupcake/muffin tray. Mini cupcake tray for smaller mince pies.
  • 250 g plain flour
  • 125 g butter
  • 60 g fine sugar (krystal or white sugar -- not powdered sugar)
  • 1 egg
  • Jam, lemon curd or mincemeat (available from Tesco/Marks & Spencer, it is a rich blend of fruits and festive spices sold in jars)

Classic English Scones

  • A rolling pin, large bowl, cutter or drinking glass, baking sheet, parchment & pastry brush.
  • 450 g self-raising flour (this is available from Tesco/Marks & Spencer (Or use plain flour and add 5 teaspoons of baking powder)
  • 2 level teaspoons baking powder
  • 50 g fine sugar
  • 100 g soft butter
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • milk a little (100ml)
  • double/heavy cream
