The artists Elmgreen & Dragset have been working together since 1995 at the crossroads of art and architecture, performance and installation. This is their first major exhibition in the Czech Republic for which they have reimagined Kunsthalle Praha as a curious public library. READ, pays homage to Prague’s literary heritage and brings together works by the artist duo as well as sixty international artists. Centered on the historical and enduring significance of books, the exhibition prompts contemplation on our connection with books as physical objects in our digital age. One of the installations highlights recently banned books, emphasizing the lasting importance of libraries as repositories of knowledge.
