By Maria Ginzburg (SE)

One of my greatest pleasures as an artist is painting en plein air. As I walk the beautiful streets of Prague I see such lovely scenes that inspire me to paint. An even greater pleasure is to paint en plein air with the company of new friends. So in the autumn of 2018 I began my IWAP Watercolour Painting Group.

The group is relaxed and very friendly so no step by step painting lessons. At these informal meetings we gather to paint with some input from me and the pleasure of each other’s company. We experience our surroundings and reflect these feelings in our paintings. We met each week in the spring and autumn at a different location, and afterwards, often stopping for refreshments at a nearby café. Sometimes when the weather presents challenges, we also paint in Cafés such as the Louvre, Lavka and Slavia.

The ladies in the painting group are from Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, England, USA, Italy, Japan, Australia and many more countries. All taking part in our en plein air painting adventures. Our numbers change weekly according to our individual schedules. Our group has been as small as 3 and as large as 10, but no matter the number we always have a good time!
