Coordinator: Polly Story-Lebl
Contact: writing@iwa-prague.com
In just 60 minutes we will (or attempt) to:
- Write a complete story based on writing prompts provided
- Share your story if you want and get some feedback
- Exercise your writing muscles
- HAVE FUN!
Prompts will be provided. Bring your preferred writing materials (pen, paper, computer) and an open mind.
What is a practice Writing Group?
In writing practice groups, the core activity is writing. Members physically sit down and simply write. They don’t talk or check their phones. They just write. We will be using writing prompts to guide the sessions. Writers will have the option to share their writing at the end.
Group Goal
The goal is to pursue something you care about—your writing— with other people. The group will provide support, feedback, and encouragement. Hopefully, you will improve your writing and make some good friends. You might even find other avenues to get your work published.
Example Writing Prompts
- Can be written from any point of view, genre, form, and we may get creative with a different twist on the prompts.
- Where That Place Used to Be: Think of a place you went to when you were younger but it now no longer there or is something else.
- Ode to Strangers: Go people watching and write an ode to a stranger you see on the street. (Maybe we can do this one from a beer garden)
