MEDICAL CARE & MULTI-SPECIALITY CLINICS
- It is customary for residents to register with a general practitioner.
- There are a number of private general and specialty clinics where English is spoken. Services vary, as do registration and annual membership fees, whether they have openings for new patients and whether they accept international or Czech health insurance.
- Foreigners can use public health services, though Czech will typically be the main language spoken. While most doctors speak at least some English, many receptionists and nurses may not. Be prepared to make appointments or ask for prescription refills in Czech!
- Many clinics have waiting areas in corridors, with closed doors rather than open receptionist desks or nursing stations. You may be expected to ring, knock or to scan your health insurance card. Many have camera monitors so that medical staff can see who is waiting. If there is a sign that says “Neklepat!”, then don’t knock! Take a seat and a nurse will periodically open the door.

Ambulance in Emergency
115 – universal emergency call – includes fire, police and ambulance services
155 – emergency number for ambulance services – operator will order an ambulance to the address provided and will support you over the phone to address the medical issue until professional help arrives.
Call for an ambulance to come to your residence or location in the city. Be prepared to pay for transport upon service rendered.
Dental Care
Prague has many English-speaking qualified dentists, orthodontists and other dental specialists.

Saunas are a part of a wellness regiment in Central Europe. Each sauna has specific usage rules, including the expectation that customers agree to use the facilities in the nude. Please speak with the sauna representative to clarify all your questions prior to entering the facility.
