To celebrate our wonderful, unique and diverse membership, IWAP is profiling one member each month. We’re asking members the same questions that will hopefully let us – and you – get to know them better. Each month we will profile a different member, selected at random, with the answers they provided along with their photo. Renee Corley is December’s selection.

Where are you from?

My father was American, and my mother was Austrian. I was born in Fort Myers, Florida, but grew up in the New York City area.
 I have lived in:

  • Vienna, Austria
  • Moscow, Russia
  • London, United Kingdom
  • and Prague, Czech Republic.

What brought you to Prague?

We moved to Prague, because of my husband’s work, in October 2017.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Film and other forms of arts and entertainment;
 travel;
language and culture.

What are your favorite things to do in Prague? What surprised you the most about Prague?

My favorite things to do in Prague are:

  • going to the cinema
  • visiting a restaurant or cafe
  • spending time with my husband.

What surprises me about Prague (pleasantly) is that people give me their seat on public transportation. It’s so much more noticeable here than in other places in the world, and it’s just really nice that people have that consciousness about older people.

What is your favorite aspect of being an IWAP member?

I enjoy the German conversation group.

I joined IWAP with the hope of meeting other people who are foreigners.

What is your biggest goal for 2019?

To become more caring.
