The town of Litomyšl, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Czech composer Bedřich Smetana’s birthplace hosts an annual series of classical concerts, opera and musicals.  The first festival took place in 1946 and with the exception of the period between 1966 through 1973, has taken place every year after 1974.   The program includes music not only from Smetana but by a great variety of composers.  International artists will also be performing in venues around the city.
