SUMMARY:Tour of Olšany Cemetery
DESCRIPTION:Join us on a special visit and tour of Olšany Cemetery\, the largest graveyard in Prague. This unique tour is called “Badass women of Olšany Cemeteries” and for an hour and a half\, our guide will help us discover emblematic women of the Czech Republic\, such as Karolina Světlá\, Eliška Krásnohorská\, Hana Podolská the “Czech Coco Chanel”\, and the entrepreneur Anna Náprstková amongst others. This beautiful cemetery dates from 1680 to bury the victims of plague outside the city limits and when the plague struck again a century later\, Emperor Joseph II enacted a series of hygiene reforms and Olšany became the city’s official cemetery.  \nThis beautifully planned public space has a large number of elaborate art nouveau grave monuments and we are sure you are going to enjoy its nostalgic paths\, while learning about women’s role in Czech history.   \nFor more information and to sign up please email culturalevents@iwa-prague.com.

SUMMARY:Tour of the Fantova Bulding
DESCRIPTION:Our next outing is quite a unique “excursion”. Come and join us for a tour of the beautifully renovated historic part of the main train station – called the Fantova building. The building dates back to the end of the 19th century. We will learn about the beginning of the construction\, the architecture\, take a bit of a “trip” back in history\, and see the various rooms. \nAfter the tour you can either enjoy a coffee in the Cafe Foyer or take part in a relaxing afternoon tea inspired treat called “Ritual: Tea at Fifth” where you will have a selection of teas on offer along with exclusive various canapes (such as spinach pancake with salmon\, honey cookie with goat cheese praline\, beef tartare with mustard mayonnaise\, mini potato salad\, selection of cakes and desserts and more.)  \nA pleasant afternoon lies ahead for you to enjoy the atmosphere and imagine what traveling was like 100 years ago.  \nDate: Tuesday 15 October  \nMeeting time: 14:40 at the entry of the main train station @ Potrafina Husa (inside) tour starts at 15:00. \nDuration: 45-60 minutes  \nTour Price: 100 CZK (50 CZK for seniors) to be paid on the spot (correct change is appreciated) \nAfternoon Tea Price: 590 CZK per person \nTo sign up please click here by 8 October.
