Every year there is a reenactment of the student protests which took place in Prague and ended on Národní třída on 17 November 1989.  Known as the Velvet Revolution as it was non-violent, people gather here every year to commemorate the protests that ended the era of the Communist regime.  This year the street will be closed again for the celebration and there will be light installations, street exhibitions, music, food and drink, and some exhibitions inside buildings as well.  For information on indoor exhibits and all activities, go to the website:
