From Thursday, October 4 to Sunday, October 7, two group leaders from Naděje took eight young clients to the “Spáleniště” cottage in the Jizerské hory mountains, where they participated in a therapy program called “Cesta Hrdiny – The Heroes’ Journey”.
It was a warm and sunny Spring afternoon when I visited Vítej. Vítej refer to themselves as 'Protected Housing'. The residents were adults ranging from 20 – 35 years old. For those who are unfamiliar with autism, it is a very wide range of disabilities.
Founded in 1999, SKP HOPO has provided temporary housing for around 3000 people. Residents stay in the three main buildings of their facility for up to a year, with more than 80 parents and children in residence at any one time.
IWAP has distributed around three million koruna in cash to Czech Charities over the past 10 years.
